Redefine The DREAM Kitchen

It all begins with an idea.

There was a time where the ultimate “dream” kitchen was defined as this large grandiose space with multiple islands, ovens, & marble. The idea of what is a dream kitchen has really evolved, with the increased number of tiny homes popping up, mobile homes etc. most individuals’ list of what could be considered a dream has changed. As a buyers agent when sitting down with my clients, I always advise them to make a list of the top 5-10 NEEDS for their kitchen & then move on to the WANTS.

Here are my top 5:

  • Functionality: how well does the space flow

  • Work space: does the kitchen have ample counter space for my husband who’s a chef

  • Dual Purpose: a friend of mine fell in love with the 11 foot island in the center of her kitchen, because not only does she entertain, but also uses the corner of the island as a work space

  • Comfort: whether you have a lot of square footage or a little, there are a lot of ways to make your dream kitchen space comfortable. Adding soft textured chairs or a small window seat with padding, even a faux fur rug in front of the sink are all ways to bring comfort to your space

  • Beauty: we all have our own definition of beauty, that’s why they say “beauty is in the eye of the beholder",” when designing your space I always recommend using accessories, pull from a certain painting or rug as inspiration. Don’t clutter up the counters & try to have fun. Beauty made my top 5, because I think it is important to have multiple spaces in your home that you get excited about spending your time in, & after all, the kitchen is still the heart of the home.
